Our Mission

The WBS Jr Knights provide a structured, positive, and competitive hockey environment for youth players at all levels. Our program focuses on skill development, age appropriate competition, teamwork, and long term growth on and off the ice.

We are committed to helping young athletes learn the game the right way while building confidence, discipline, and a love for hockey.

Meet THE KNIGHTS

Knights development reaches the highest levels of the game. Three Knights alumni were selected in the 2026 NHL Draft, including first round pick Nikita Klepov, 15th overall to the Anaheim Ducks. Nine alumni have now been drafted into the NHL, more than 80 have advanced to NCAA Division I hockey over the past ten years, and eleven have moved directly into Tier I junior hockey in the USHL and OHL. Our teams compete in the AYHL and AHF against the best clubs on the East Coast, backed by professional coaching led by Hockey Director and former NHL defenseman Raymond Giroux.

FAQs

The WBS Jr. Knights is a USA Hockey-sanctioned program focused on developing youth hockey players in northeastern Pennsylvania since 2007. It offers competitive teams at various levels, including Tier I and Tier II.

The program serves players from U8 (Mite) to U20 (Junior), encompassing ages roughly 6 to 20, with specific age classifications such as Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget.

USA Hockey designates youth tiers by level of competition. Tier I is the highest level of youth hockey, commonly called AAA, with national tournament eligibility. Tier II covers AA and A level travel hockey. The WBS Jr Knights field both Tier I AAA and Tier II teams across our age groups, so players can be placed at the level that fits their development. For players aged 16 to 20, our organization also operates junior hockey teams through the WBS Knights USPHL programs, which follow a separate junior tier structure.

Youth hockey tuition ranges from $1,500 to $6,000 per year (non-academy), depending on the team level, tier, and league. A tuition fact sheet is available for each team. Additional fees for uniforms and fundraising may apply.

Yes, there is an early pay discount for payment in full and an option for a payment plan spread over several months. All tuition must be paid in full by November 1st.

Yes, families can purchase Registration Cancellation Protection and Gap Medical Insurance during the registration process.

Yes, players need to update their USA Hockey membership prior to the execution of a contract for the upcoming season.

No, team placement is not guaranteed. Players are selected based on skill levels during tryouts. Developmental teams and in-house leagues are available for those who don’t make a travel team.

Yes, every player must try out for the team(s) to be considered for a contract.

Yes, all players are required to attend all tryout sessions for their age group and tier level. Tryout fees are non-refundable.

At younger age levels, ice time is distributed fairly equally. At older age levels and higher competition tiers, playing time may vary based on coaches’ decisions.

Over the past ten years, more than 80 WBS Knights alumni have advanced to NCAA Division I hockey, and eleven players have moved directly from the Knights into Tier I junior programs in the USHL and OHL.
